“You’re hot.” He pulled her closer.
She smiled an uncomfortable smile. “Exactly how do you mean that?”
“I have to explain it?” He pulled her hair. She was suspicious of him now.
“Are you suspicious of me now?”
There was a loud noise that blew in from the open window and punctuated the tense silence. He jumped six inches off the couch. She thought it was funny, until she remembered that maybe he’d seen some combat during his time in the military. This made her feel a little softer towards him. She reached over and pulled his hair. Hard.
